The Verse Playtest Notes
Howdy all:
I'm sitting here with William Pace going through his notes from their last gaming session. We decided to add this stuff to the forum for discussion.
Winged Aircraft - Glitch. Apparently, you can get the spacecraft skill without the necessary level 4 in winged aircraft as a prerequisite, or its allowing them to get it, but it is showing it wrong on their sheet. Something like that. I'll look into it.
Suggested Aptitude Additions:
* Eng: Nuclear (or was the Nooquelar?) - I agree with this. I'll work out the specifics and get them posted for comments.
* Butchery - In the meat packing industry sense of the profession, not the sense we've all become accustomed to while playing Universe.
* Crime Secene Forensics - Again, I agree and will work out specifics and post them for comment.
* Demolitions - The question arises if this aptitude covers arming explosive ordinance and diffusing explosives. I would say that the demolitions aptitude covers these, and will incorporate it into the current description.
* Public Speaking - Some wise guy added televangelism; I think that would fall under cons, however.
* Med: Something - We need a skill to cover chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, acupressure, and other musculo-skeletal treatment.
* Med: Eastern - Well, we can't call it Eastern Medicine, but you get the idea. What would it do, specifically? Or maybe call it Med: Homeopathy.
* Leadership (ability) - Need to review the description and utility of this ability. Apparently it falls flat, Mr. Hitler.
* Fiber Arts - Ok, my wife has gone nuts and joined a knitting cult. If I don't add it, I may have to sleep outside. She validly mentioned that there has been enough knitting during gaming, that we should pay homage to the art by adding it somewhere in the book. William made a valid point that we should have an Ind: Textiles skill. Perhaps we should make a tree of aptitudes to cover these areas.
* Street perfomer - This would fall under Performing Arts, Specific, so I think it is covered and doesn't need a new aptitude.
* Pick Pocket - As archaic as this skill is, and so typecast with fantasy RPGs, that I hesitated, but I can think of only reasons it should be added, not omitted. People want to steal stuff. William and I decided on a stiff prerequisite of Stealth, Level 4.
* Ind: Slavery - Ouch! Yep, we need to add this despite our objections to the trade of human life. The Sluve currently trade in Govit (neo-humans) slaves, and there's plenty of it illicitly and legally in our own world. Perhaps we should think about Ind: Organized Crime. Hmmm.....
I think that covers it. Feel free to make comments, and I'll work on getting them written.
Mark
